The Hippie Boat On Wheels
Our 2025 trading season is about to begin, follow us to see what is lined up & where we will be
Thank you so much to all of you for your kind and much appreciated messages of support and love, they mean a lot to us both. Taxi arrived bang on 7am to take Pete to London and he is now on his way. It is going to be a strange 4 days without him, but I have plenty to keep me busy and we will of course speak on the phone. I will post a progress update in due course.
The main reason that we are sharing Pete’s Prostate Cancer journey, is not for sympathy, but to raise awareness of a cancer that will affect 1 in 8 men. There is currently no national screening programme for PC and this means that too many men fall through the net and are diagnosed when this horrible disease is already more advanced. However, according to Prostate Cancer UK, 2025 may be the year that this will finally change 🙏🤞. In the mean-time, any man may request the test via their GP and must not be put off by anyone who suggests that having no symptoms, makes it unnecessary; Pete, had no symptoms and requested the test due to a friend making us aware of the condition after they were positively diagnosed…….The following information is from a document published on the uk gov website
“ Any man can make an appointment with their GP to discuss having the prostate specific antigen (PSA) test. The test is available to anyone with a prostate, including trans women and non-binary people.. This summary information is for GPs to give to men who do not have symptoms of prostate disease, and who proactively raise the issue of PSA testing.
It sets out the role of the PSA test in testing for prostate cancer. It gives individuals concise, clear and balanced information on the potential benefits and risks of having the test.
The document includes information about:
the prostate
prostate cancer
the PSA test
options after the PSA test” ![]()

That’s it folks, over and out from The Hippie Boat on Wheels trading season 2025, Pete has just been called with a date for his operation! He will be heading to University College Hospital London for robotic surgery to remove his Prostate next Wednesday 20th August, so the fabulous Northern Green Gathering is the last festival we will be attending. We are sad not to see those of you who were going to visit us at Marbury Park, Bratch Locks or The Huddlesford Gathering, but we are so pleased and relieved that Pete is getting the treatment that he needs. We are very hopeful for a good and complete recovery from this horrible disease that affects 1 in 8 men and is often not diagnosed until it has metastasised as there is no National Screening programme like there is for breast, cervical or colon cancer, yet it is so treatable and curable. The PSA test used to detect the presence of Prostate Cancer, is a very simple one, so if you are male and over 40 (yes, this is not an old man’s disease as is a commonly believed) please do ask your GP for a test. Pete, did and despite no obvious symptoms, he had a positive result. We must also keep campaigning for a National Screening Programme to stop men falling through the net - statistically, more men now die from Prostate Cancer than women do from Breast Cancer and this is unacceptable. We are feeling a little nervous of course in anticipation of this operation, but UCHL is a leading centre for robotic prostate surgery with some of the most experienced surgeons in residence and we are looking forward to putting the surgery behind us and focussing positively on Pete’s recovery. Thank you so much to everyone that has visited and shopped with us at the festivals we have been at over the Summer, we have had an awesome time and it has certainly kept us busy and occupied and of course your support is hugely appreciated as are our online customers. Online is where you will find us for the rest of 2025, so do head over and take a look at the website next month, when I will start adding the remaining stock amongst which there will be plenty of bargain buys 😊 Love and blessings from us both and the doggies xx ☮️ 🧡 💜 💚 ✌️ #prostatecancerawareness #festivalseason2025 #prostatehealthawareness
